Two-Day Linocut Workshop
Exploring relief printing techniques with soft linoleum

In this fun 2-day workshop, you will have the opportunity to:
- Create a bold block print design inspired by nature
- Develop an understanding of working with positive/negative space
- View examples of block print designs from various artists both classical and contemporary
- Practice carving techniques with soft linoleum
- Experience printing methods using both water based and oil based inks
- Print multiple images on a variety of papers including Canson Mi-Teintes, Hot Press watercolor paper and Japanese rice paper
- Learn to combine watercolor into a block print design
What is included? (2) 4 x 6″ linoleum blocks, variety of papers for printing, printmaking ink
Use of studio equipment: carving tools, brayers, ink plates, pencils and paper, aprons
What you need to bring:
Reference photos (details provided upon registration,) rubber gloves for clean-up, watercolors and brushes for Day 2

Note for Beginners: If you are not ready to invest in the set of pigments on the supply list, I have some palettes set-up with watercolor pigments that you can borrow. The supply cost for the pigments and palette would be $50. You will be responsible for bringing the other supplies on the list.
Open Studios
Building 30 W is a beautifully restored historical building where there are 30 artists working in a variety of media. We host a fall and spring Open Studios where the public is invited in to see the art and meet the artists.
